All Humates are not Bio-Active! Some are toxic!

The term humate is a very general one, just like differences in soil fertility from one soil type to another humate differ based on what the original parent material was, how old it is and how it was formed. The confusion is based on the sale of salt water/marine based oxidized lignite based products as containing Humic acids. These are not the same humic acids that are in freshwater/aquatic based humate formed from broadleaf plants in bogs which were protected from leeching away of valuable bioactive ingredients  by over 20 ft. (7 m) of sandstone in arid areas of the New Mexico mountains.

We do not recommend using any other source of so called humate based on years of research testing products being sold as humates worldwide. An example of the worst product for plant growth  we ever tested came from a company in W. China. The product was never used or tested in agriculture even in China and the product is strictly for industrial use like in drilling muds, flux, ceramics and other industrial uses. This product contains high levels of humic acids but not bioactive functional groups known to be bioactive, so don't be fooled! It may be cheaper but is what you see below worth paying ANYTHING for?

The Cabbage plants from Left to right are treated with Russian Sodium/potassium humate,Chinese Potassium humate, New Mexico based Potassium Humate (Humisolve-USA™). The interesting part is only the Humisolve-USA treated cabbage resisted both insect and slug damage. Insect and disease resistance is provided by phenol groups not found in coal based humates and these humates carry toxic organic compounds found in coal and oil. The New Mexico "Humate" we use is not coal and is effective at stimulating plant growth in the form it comes from the ground in and coal is not.

Do Not be fooled by low prices! Coal is cheap ! But does it pay?

The plant stimulant and pest protectent/anti-feedant  effect using high FULVIC Acid Humisolve-USA
Fulvic acids are low molecular weight and can penetrate cell membrane/cell walls of animals and plants and exert a bio-activation effect. Fulvic acids are golden in color and occur only in Natural humate deposits and rarely in coal. Any Humic acids with molecular. weight higher than about 10,000 are useless for plants as they can not enter the plant, coal does not work like humate by calling it humate.

control cabbage above have not been seed treated or watered with humate solution

The cabbage above was seed treated with Chinese Potassium Humate and watered with the solution at the exact same total carbon solution as the U.S., the Russian and the humate from Cz. Republic.
Only the Humisolve-USA made from real humate and the Russian product made from an oxidized peaty coal from Siberia. Clearly the only product you would every want to Use is the HumisolveUSA™ which is more effective gram for gram than the Russian product and is cheaper and better handling properties.
Notice the distorted leaves on the cabbage treated and watered with the Chinese Product, the cabbage never formed a normal head and seems to be suffering from some kind of genetic or toxic damage. If that has been used on a crop the entire crop would of been lost. BUYER BEWARE of coal solutions that do this kind of damage yet are sold as humate.
The control/un-treated cabbage look better than the coal humate treated indicating a stunting effect from the Chinese coal based humate. This stuff is for drilling mud not agriculture or horticulture and give the word humate a bad name.
From left to right Humisolve-R from Siberia, Potassium humate from Cz.Republic and control using same potting mix but without humate seed treat or water.
This picture is the same as about but the center pumpkin plant is the Chinese K-Humate product. This research clearly shows the toxic effects of industrial coal based humic acid soluble powder has more herbicidal or stunting effect than it has bio-stimulation effect. Using nothing is even cheaper than using this Chinese Humate from Dally Industrial Co.,Ltd. This is the kind of mistake that has hurt the humate business, humate can be beneficial or toxic you need to do plant testing using indicator plants like pumpkins, cucumber, cabbage, barley. combined with  lab testing for organic functional groups which are the real source of bioactivity.

The fastest way to test humate is a bioassey using radish seed. This test shows effect on root growth/root hair development ,vegatative growth effects and reproductive effects based on the size and quality of the radish bulb.
Again the coal based industrial grade humic acid solution show stunting effect and were worse than the controls

In Many cases the best humate shows up at the seedling stage. In this case the fulvic acid based seed treatment (a clear solution) was more effective than the potassium humate soultions (black). Seeds treated with a ture bio-active humic product like Faust Bio-Magic fulvic solution always showes more root growth and more root heair development and a better color and this carried over into the production of cabbage heads as the above pictures clearly show.
